Re-seal every 2–3 years

Inland sun is hard on sealer. In full exposure, plan on a re-coat every two to three years; shaded areas can stretch longer. Re-sealing restores the color depth, renews the slip-resistant additive, and keeps water and stains out of the surface. It’s a wash, a dry day, and a roller — not a redo.

Clean gently, de-ice never

Rinse with a hose and use a mild soap for spots; a pressure washer on a low, wide setting is fine but a tight tip will etch the surface and blow out the sealer. Never use de-icing salts — they’re rarely needed here and they pit and scale decorative concrete permanently.

Manage what’s around it

Keep sprinkler heads from throwing hard water directly onto the slab — it leaves mineral crust that dulls the finish. Trim planting so soil and mulch don’t sit against the edge holding moisture, and pick up leaves and pine needles before they tannin-stain a light-colored surface.
