Caring for Your Lawn After Turf Installation

The monthly rinse

Dust, pollen, and pet traffic dull turf over time. A rinse with a hose once or twice a month clears it and cools the surface in hot weather. For pet areas, add an enzyme-based turf cleaner every few weeks to stay ahead of odor — solids pick up as normal, then hose the spot.

Brushing and infill

In walkways and play zones the blades lie down and the infill migrates. Once or twice a year, brush those lanes against the grain with a stiff push broom and top up the infill where it’s thin. Infill isn’t cosmetic — it weights the turf, holds the blades up, and shields the backing from UV, which is what determines how long the lawn lasts.

Keep it clear, watch the heat sources

Blow or rake leaves off before they mat and stain. Keep barbecues and fire pits off the turf and be careful with reflected sun off low-E windows, which can be hot enough to shine the blades. Address weeds at the edges quickly — they root in wind-blown soil on top, not through the barrier, so they pull out easily when caught early.
